Introducing Online Proctoring Services

Fair testing is an important part of offering quality education to students. To assure fair testing we require proctoring, or test monitoring, for most courses. Fortunately, now students can even be proctored by someone who isn’t in the same room–or even the same country!

Starting in November of 2014, availability of Examity proctoring services, a webcam-based proctoring service, will be rolled out sequentially to individual courses.

This is a great option when students cannot locate a proctor in their area or find an arrangement that fits their schedule. Examity offers convenience since proctors are available 24 hours a day.

At the time of the scheduled exam students login to Examity and verify their identity and display their workspace. The proctor reviews the exam policies and watches the student and their computer browser activity during the test while the student takes the exam online as normal.

To use online proctoring, students will need to ensure they meet all the requirements, including having a webcam, a microphone, and a government- or school-issued photo ID. As with any proctor service, students are responsible for the proctor fee and following policy.

Examity sessions are scheduled in advance, requiring upfront payment. Before scheduling, please ensure that your ID and technology meets Examity requirements. If you are unsure whether or not they will be accepted, contact Student Support Services. Examity sessions which are cancelled due to inadequate ID or technology will not be refunded.

Please visit the Exam Proctoring page to learn more about proctoring and the Examity Online Proctoring page for more details on how students can get started.
